Job Title: Defence Healthcare Specialist

About the Role

This defence healthcare role involves providing comprehensive care services to Australian Defence Force personnel across Australia. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to deliver high-quality healthcare services, including assessment, treatment, and health promotion. They will also be responsible for ensuring that patients receive timely and effective care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outpatient assessment and health promotion services to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Assess the level of care required for patients and set priorities accordingly
  • Initiate treatment for minor injuries and illnesses
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Australian Citizenship for security clearance purposes
  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2), General with the relevant professional body
  • At least 2 years full-time post-registration nursing experience within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent) in an acute care or primary healthcare setting
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team to support the delivery of safe and efficient care to patients

Working Environment

The Oakey Health Centre is located at the Army Aviation Centre, approximately 500 members strong. It provides a range of medical services, including primary care, aviation medicine, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmaceutical, and mental health services. The centre operates Monday to Friday, with occasional emergency responses to the Army Aviation Centre.
