Residential Care Specialist

Job Overview:

Delivering care and support to vulnerable children and young people, Residential Care Specialists play a pivotal role in fostering a nurturing home environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in their Individual Case Plans
  • Assist young people to develop independence and build community networks
  • Support the young person's interests
  • Establish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomes
  • Manage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionally
  • Domestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves, such as cooking, housework, and laundry
  • Communicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
  • Medication administration (when required)
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concern
  • Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
  • Experience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgrounds
  • A current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011) & CPR (HLTAID001 or HLTAID009) Certificate/s
  • A current Drivers Licence
