Claims Consultant Job Description

Tal Services Limited is seeking a skilled Claims Consultant to join our team.

Job Summary: As a Claims Consultant, you will be responsible for the proactive management of a portfolio of life insurance claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of life insurance claims in accordance with our claims philosophy, claims handling procedures, policy terms & conditions, and legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to external regulations, such as the Privacy and Life Insurance Code of Practice, and all relevant legislation and industry guidelines.
  • Provide high-quality, accurate, and compliant work, ensuring all interactions with customers, advisers, and other stakeholders meet our customer service standards.
  • Contribute to department and company projects as required.
  • Formulate an appropriate claims strategy by gathering and interpreting relevant information.
  • Determine correct benefit entitlement, ensuring legitimate claims are paid in a timely manner in accordance with policy terms and conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including Technical Specialists, Recovery & Support Specialists, and Health Services.
  • Participate in case conferences and peer case discussions, preparing documentation, maintaining records, and completing agreed actions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, proactively managing communication with customers and clients, and initiating support options as needed.
  • Manage customer and partner stakeholder relationships, monitoring service delivery and quality.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar claims management role in the financial services or insurance industry.
  • Ability to build rapport and empathy with customers during difficult times and a commitment to delivering proactive, high-quality customer service.
  • Advanced time management and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, health, or allied health (desirable).
  • Diploma or Cert IV in life insurance, or equivalent (desirable).
