Volunteer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled volunteer to join our community program as a life stories biographer. This rewarding role involves visiting an elderly woman and assisting her in recording her life story, memories, and messages for her loved ones.

The volunteer will be responsible for:

  • Conducting face-to-face interviews with the client on weekdays (Monday-Friday) between 9am-4pm for one hour;
  • Transcribing and editing the client's life story using Microsoft Word;
  • Typing at a speed of 50 words per minute;
  • Working independently and problem-solving skills;
  • Driving to the client's home in their own vehicle;

The transcription and editing process can occur in the evenings, allowing for flexibility in scheduling. Regular visits from volunteers can help improve quality of life and reduce feelings of isolation among older people.
