Helpdesk Support Specialist

The Helpdesk Support Specialist role requires a diligent and methodical individual who is skilled in troubleshooting technical issues.

This position involves monitoring and responding to IT level 1 requests/issues, as well as escalating support requests/issues as required. Effective communication with users regarding ticket status, follow-ups and updates is essential.

Daily assignments, tickets and emails will be assigned for completion, and guiding users through troubleshooting steps is also a key responsibility. Additionally, the Helpdesk Support Specialist will assist with updating technical knowledge base and documentation, scripted and unscripted testing scenarios, and documenting results.

Provisioning of IT assets (configuration and installation), maintaining standby IT equipment including inventory tasks, and assisting with hardware, software and licensing audits are also key responsibilities. Furthermore, running, reviewing and updating reports, as well as IT project participation, may be required.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • + 3 years Helpdesk Support experience in small to medium sized companies.
  • Hands-on experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting of Windows Operating Systems.
  • Working knowledge of computer peripherals (e.g. printers, UPSs etc).
  • Experience with networking and Active Directory preferred.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting and provide clear instructions.
  • Good problem-solving and multitasking skills.
  • Customer-focussed attitude.
  • Windows certification would be an advantage.
