The successful applicant will be required to work with offenders both pre and post release, to assist them in achieving sustainable employment or training outcomes.
This role involves working closely with offenders to provide coaching and mentoring related to all aspects of the process of sourcing, securing, and maintaining employment or training - including resume writing and interview preparation.
You will use your knowledge of the employment landscape to build relationships with employers, advocate on behalf of disadvantaged job seekers, and assist clients to obtain sustainable employment.
In addition, you will liaise closely with staff within the corrections sector, community service providers, and training institutions, to provide appropriate support to clients and build and maintain effective relationships with organisations within the training and employment sector.
To be successful, you will be able to demonstrate your experience in providing professional advice, support and mentoring to clients with complex needs, related to all aspects of job sourcing. Ideally you will also have worked with clients who require rehabilitation, or be able to demonstrate an understanding of the needs of this cohort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching and mentoring services to offenders to assist them in achieving sustainable employment or training outcomes.
- Build relationships with employers to secure job placements for clients.
- Advocate on behalf of disadvantaged job seekers to access employment opportunities.
- Liaise with corrections sector staff, community service providers and training institutions to provide support to clients.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A Diploma of Community Service or Training and Assessment qualification is desirable.
- Experience working in Job active-employment service providers or Centrelink is desirable.
- Background police checks will be conducted.
- A current driver's licence is essential.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
