About the Role

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer to join its team. As a senior executive leader, you will play a critical role in delivering financial and business services to support the achievement of the Commission's strategic and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner Corporate, you will work collaboratively to deliver financial and business services to support the achievement of the Commission's strategic and operational objectives.
  • Providing accurate and timely financial reporting to the Executive Leadership Group and ensuring that the Commission complies with all financial requirements and accounting standards.
  • Leading the Finance Branch to ensure compliance with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act 2013 and other Commonwealth financial and resource management frameworks.
  • Operating in a complex, diverse and dynamic environment, you will lead major system and change initiatives, taking a key role in improving integration of financial services and systems across the organisation.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and completed professional qualifications (CA or CPA Program).
  • A strong demonstrated understanding of current accounting standards, Commonwealth budget processes, audit requirements, and financial reporting rules.
  • A strong financial management capability demonstrated in an accrual accounting environment (preferably in a PGPA Act 2013 context), including the preparation of financial statements, development of financial policies, and preparation of estimates and budget information.
  • The ability to develop innovative and timely solutions to address the needs of stakeholders and the organisation, as well as a continuous improvement focus.
  • A well-developed ability to analyse and interpret complex annual financial statements and periodic financial reports, and to communicate this to a non-technical audience.
  • A strong demonstrated capability to anticipate, monitor and advise on emerging financial management issues, legislation and standards, and the ability to apply a strategic lens to budget management and financial planning.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, openly and effectively, together with a pragmatic and solution-focused approach to negotiation.
  • The ability to establish and maintain relationships with staff, stakeholders and clients at all levels.
