Workshop Supervisor Job Description

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and have the ability to oversee the daily operations of our workshop.

  • Leadership and Supervision :
  • Directly supervise workshop staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead by example with a strong focus on people management and leadership.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Supervise workshop staff and provide technical support as needed.
  2. Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations within the workshop.
  3. Assist in maintaining a safe working environment by ensuring all staff adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
  4. Manage staff timesheets and leave requests, plan and quote for workshop jobs, sign off on completed work, and assist with budgeting inventory.
  5. Act as a liaison between sales staff, customers, and the workshop, ensuring clear communication and customer satisfaction.
  6. Ensure all crack testing and welding processes meet Australian standards.
  7. Liaise with external suppliers and other branches, assisting with queries and stock transfers as needed.
  8. Conduct toolbox talks, plan daily activities for workshop personnel, mentor and train apprentices and staff to develop their skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in a workshop supervisory or leadership role is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of workshop operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
