Overview:

Maintain biodiversity sites across Melbourne's parks and gardens through hands-on ecological restoration and conservation efforts. Perform physical fieldwork in varying weather conditions, maintaining biodiversity sites through herbicide application, hand weeding, brush-cutting, and woody weed removal.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain biodiversity sites across Melbourne's parks and gardens
  • Perform hands-on ecological restoration and conservation efforts
  • Perform physical fieldwork in varying weather conditions
  • Maintain biodiversity sites through herbicide application, hand weeding, brush-cutting, and woody weed removal
  • Identify native and weed species to support ecological restoration projects
  • Promote ecosystem longevity through habitat creation and regeneration processes
  • Manage vehicles and equipment, ensuring safety and maintenance standards
  • Liaise with stakeholders and assist with procurement and delivery of supplies

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum AQF 5 (Diploma) Qualifications in Conservation and Land Management, Environmental Science, Horticulture or similar
  • Chem Cert (Desirable)
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Working with Children Check (Or willingness to obtain)
  • Knowledge of native and indigenous plants, as well as weed species
  • Demonstrated experience in conservation, land management, or similar roles
  • Understanding of ecological restoration principles and techniques
  • Practical experience with brush-cutters, augers, and pesticide application
