We're inviting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders to collaborate on Our Yarning, a library of stories created by and for community. These tales ensure cultural integrity and showcase diverse voices and perspectives.

As a social enterprise, our mission is to make knowledge accessible to all equally, leveraging innovation to deliver meaningful change for children's education worldwide.

This opportunity will enable you to maintain the cultural integrity of Our Yarning, ensuring the books we publish are culturally respectful and inclusive. Your advice will be invaluable in shaping the library's content, fostering strong community ties, and promoting the work far and wide.

You'll be part of a team that values collaboration and cultural safety, working remotely with flexible hours and a small honorarium for your contributions.

About the Role

  • Provide guidance on cultural matters related to publishing.
  • Ensure books are respectful and appropriate.
  • Promote Our Yarning through your networks and community.
  • Support partnership development and fundraising efforts.
  • Be part of a collaborative environment prioritizing cultural safety.

What We're Looking For

We welcome people from diverse backgrounds, age groups, and regions to ensure a broad range of voices are represented. Key requirements include:

  • You identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • You bring your cultural knowledge and lived experience to the table.
  • You're reliable, respectful, and passionate about storytelling.
  • You have expertise in not-for-profits, business strategy, publishing, education, or children's librarianship.

How You'll Contribute

  • Attend at least 3 meetings per year (each approximately 2 hours).
  • Remain connected via email and meetings.
  • Support the program in various capacities outside of meetings.
  • Maintain a culturally safe and respectful environment.
