Cafe Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cafe Supervisor to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a Cafe Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our cafe, including the supervision of Work for the Dole participants in training and skills-based activities around hospitality.
The successful candidate will have significant demonstrated experience operating a commercial venue, including compliance with the Food Safety Act and relevant local laws. You will also have a Victorian Employee Working with Children Check and sound experience, knowledge, and demonstrated application of Food Safety requirements.
As a Cafe Supervisor, you will be responsible for preparing and supervising the preparation, presentation, packaging, serving, and sale/distribution of food and associated items. You will also be responsible for supervising Work for the Dole participants referred from The Salvation Army Employment Plus and other Job Active Providers.

Key Responsibilities- Prepare and supervise the preparation, presentation, packaging, serving, and sale/distribution of food and associated items.
- Supervise Work for the Dole participants referred from The Salvation Army Employment Plus and other Job Active Providers.
- Be responsible for induction of new volunteers, staff, and participants in areas relevant to Cafe operations.
- Prepare food and beverages in accordance with Safe Food Handling legislation and safety requirements, and at the required temperatures.
- Significant demonstrated experience operating a commercial venue, including compliance with the Food Safety Act and relevant local laws.
- A Victorian Employee Working with Children Check.
- Sound experience, knowledge, and demonstrated application of Food Safety requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to train and work with marginalised persons.
- The ability to deliver skill-based training to participants.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team of staff as well as operate as a sole worker when required.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge and understanding of current stock control measures and business cash handling processes and systems.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to continuous service improvement principles and practices.
