We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our dynamic research team in artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. This unique opportunity will enable you to conduct your doctoral research at the Australian Artificial Intelligence Institute, University of Technology Sydney.

About the Research
Our research focuses on several key areas:
  • Developing advanced AI-based methods for learning, optimization, and condition monitoring in battery and energy systems.
  • Creating AI-driven solutions for material engineering design, nanowire single photon detector development, quantum error correction, quantum control design, and quantum sensing.
  • Exploring the rapidly advancing field of quantum machine learning, which leverages quantum computing to accelerate traditional machine learning methods.
  • Investigating the estimation, control, and optimization of classical and quantum systems.
About the Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong academic background in computer science, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, electrical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field. You should also possess proficiency and interest in one or more of the following: machine learning, quantum technologies, optimization, control systems, and energy systems. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate motivation to conduct high-quality research and contribute to innovative solutions in AI and quantum science. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for this position. The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a diverse research team is also required. Finally, a passion for advancing knowledge and translating research outcomes into real-world applications is crucial.
