Job Opportunity

The Academic Success Officer plays a vital role in supporting student success activities at the Buranga Centre.

About the Role:

  • This position requires a dedicated advocate for the centre, championing it as a resource for student success and Indigenous advancement across the university.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To enhance student success, retention, and completion through various activities and services, including academic skills advising, pastoral care, residential life activities, financial support, cultural safety initiatives, and more.
  • Support the continuous improvement of best practice strategies that improve enrolment, progression, and completion rates for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, while enhancing their overall university experience and sense of belonging.
  • Recruit, develop, and monitor Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Student Ambassadors for the centre, addressing the advising needs of these students effectively.

Key Qualifications:

  • A minimum of extensive experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students throughout their academic journeys.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to interact with diverse people, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and exercise initiative and independent judgment.
