The Role

We are seeking a Senior Project Developer to join our team, responsible for growing, maintaining, and overseeing the development of a portfolio of projects from site identification, screening, land security, and early-stage planning processes. This role will require regular travel across NSW.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing and leading the day-to-day work of the Project Developers, providing motivation, encouragement, and opportunities for development.
  • Overseeing and being hands-on in the development of renewable energy generation and storage projects, supporting prospecting teams, providing advice where required, reviewing project plans, budgets, and risk assessments, and assisting in liaising with clients or regulators as needed.
  • Contributing to project planning, budgeting, and risk management, utilizing their understanding of the development process.
  • Utilizing their knowledge of technical processes to communicate concepts and explain assessment outcomes to project stakeholders.
  • Originating and overseeing the compilation of site data, including topographic and cadastral data, site constraints, property schedule, residence matrix, and stakeholder management plan.
  • Originating consultation with landowners, negotiation of landowner agreements, legal dealings, and other correspondence as required, and maintaining a continued role throughout the development process.
  • Originating the stakeholder consultation process with local and/or State planning authorities, other regulators, general public, landowners, and other stakeholders, and maintaining a continued role throughout the development process.
  • Supporting the production of Environmental Impact Statement documents, Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation referrals, and any other statutory applications required for project development.
  • Conducting site visits to consult with project stakeholders, assist in on-site studies where required, inspect monitoring equipment as needed, and escort clients and contractors around sites.
  • Contributing to the continual improvement of internal processes, including but not limited to maintenance and currency of development work instructions.
  • Mentoring and training other members of the development team in aspects of development.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Demonstrated excellence in team leadership and management, with a proven track record of guiding and developing high-performing teams.
  • Extensive and hands-on experience in managing land contract negotiations, with a strong focus on achieving optimal outcomes and mitigating risks.
  • Extensive relevant work experience in a similar position working in the renewable energy sector, preferably.
  • Development experience within complex infrastructure projects, including transmission, road, rail, pipelines, will be well regarded.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contracts for procurement, professional services, and landholder.
  • Ability to maintain effective and collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • A willingness to create change, support the communities in which we operate, and deliver on our investment objectives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including liaison and negotiation skills.
  • High-level organization skills, including well-developed priority-setting skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to undertake extensive domestic travel to project locations in rural and regional Australia.
Qualifications Required/Desired

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Planning, Property, or Engineering, preferably.
  • A current driver's license.
