About the Role

Thiess Sonoma Mine, located 10km south of Collinsville, is seeking an experienced HV Electrician for a permanent full-time position to join our project.

As our next High Voltage Electrician, reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.

In this position, you will:

  • Perform the servicing, repair, and maintenance of large-scale mobile mining equipment as directed in accordance with Thiess maintenance systems documentation.
  • Work safely and comply with the Site Safety Health and Management System.
  • Complete general maintenance, breakdowns, services, and component change-outs, as well as periodical statutory electrical testing and inspections, to a high standard.
  • Source technical information from relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins, OEM, and computer-based systems.
  • Conduct required inspections to maximize equipment utilization.

Our Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, you are required to have:

  • Queensland Electrical Fitter Mechanic Trade Certificate, with post-trade experience working in the mining industry with diesel electric haul trucks, preferably Hitachi AC, Liebherr, Komatsu, or Cat.
  • Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 & 3007.
  • Experience in high-voltage equipment maintenance.
  • Experience conducting statutory testing on electrical infrastructure.
  • Statement of Attainment for HV Switching.
  • Registered Cabler would be an advantage.

  • Retention Payment from 1st July 2024, $10,000 paid in 52 weekly payments. Inclusive of super.
