Job Description

The Program Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing and supporting young people in youth justice and restorative justice interventions.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with a team to develop and deliver programs that foster positive outcomes for young people
  • Maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders and community partners to enhance program delivery
  • Providing training and guidance to staff on engagement strategies, youth worker safety, and compliance management to ensure best practice
  • Allocating Youth Worker duties and coordinating timetables to optimize program efficiency
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of Youth Workers to drive continuous improvement
  • Maintaining strong relationships with community service agencies and conducting risk assessments to ensure safe and effective program delivery
  • Offering supervision and support to young people to help them reach their full potential
  • Developing and maintaining procedures for the supervision and direct care of young people to ensure high-quality services

  • Role-specific/technical skills: Knowledge of assessment and case work intervention relating to young offenders, knowledge of theoretical perspectives that relate to youth justice practice, including impacts of historical and contemporary policy and practices upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
