Cancer Care Specialist

This role is a vital part of the team working to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people with cancer in remote communities.
The successful candidate will provide emotional support, information, and care navigation for individuals diagnosed with cancer. This involves building positive relationships with patients, carers, and community leaders, as well as collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and other healthcare providers.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will also require the ability to critically evaluate patient information and navigate complex care pathways.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide emotional support, information, and care navigation for patients with cancer
- Build and maintain positive relationships with patients, carers, and community leaders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care
- Critically evaluate patient information and navigate complex care pathways
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Relevant post-registration qualifications or at least 3 years' experience working with cancer patients
- Ability to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and build trust
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
