Job Description

**About the Role**

Oculus International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the production processes at our Melbourne site. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that production is cost-effective, efficient, of superior quality, safe, and environmentally friendly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Revenue Growth: Collaborate with the General Manager – Production VIC & SA to develop and implement strategies to achieve revenue targets and provide budget input and recommendations.
  • Deliver Production Targets: Ensure timely and budget-compliant order completion, meeting quality standards and targets.
  • Monitor Productivity and Efficiency: Develop corrective action plans to improve productivity and efficiency, and implement measures to minimize quality costs.
  • Oversee Heavy Machinery: Ensure the implementation and maintenance of heavy machinery, and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Ensure WHS Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to WHS guidelines and safe practices at all times.
  • Lead and Manage Team: Induct new workshop employees, ensure compliance with personal protective equipment rules, and record and report all incidents, accidents, and injuries.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the General Manager – Production VIC & SA to drive continuous improvement in all areas of production.

Focus Areas

  • Lead and Manage Workshop Supervisors/Team Leaders: Efficiently manage and lead Workshop Supervisors/Team Leaders to achieve production targets.
  • Promote and Enforce WHS Standards: Promote and enforce Work Health and Safety standards, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Support Production with Effective Equipment Utilisation and Maintenance: Collaborate with the General Manager – Production VIC & SA to optimize production output and gross margins, and minimize quality costs.
  • Optimize Production Output and Gross Margins: Develop and implement strategies to optimize production output and gross margins, and ensure accurate production costs versus estimates.
  • Guarantee On-Time and In-Full Order Delivery: Ensure timely and budget-compliant order completion, meeting quality standards and targets.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement in All Areas of Production: Collaborate with the General Manager – Production VIC & SA to drive continuous improvement in all areas of production.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Tertiary Qualification: A tertiary qualification in Team Supervision or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Trade Qualification: A trade qualification is highly desirable.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
  • Proven People Supervision Skills: Proven people supervision skills, including the ability to build rapport and trust with team members.
