Job Title: Supply Chain Materials Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead new cutting-edge material development at mills for proprietary materials. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the machining and assembly of metallic components and associated processes.

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of machining and assembly processes with the desire and capability to take on new challenges in unfamiliar areas. This position requires a high degree of technical expertise and innovation, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive improvement in the supply base and ensure that we are receiving aerospace-grade materials. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead new cutting-edge material development at mills
  • Enforce strict requirements at mills worldwide to ensure aerospace-grade materials
  • Act as metallurgical point of contact for all purchased metallic raw materials and semi-finished products
  • Lead technical quality issue and non-conformance resolution
  • Work with procurement to source exceptional suppliers and qualify them appropriately
  • Partner with suppliers to develop capability to produce unique products

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an engineering or materials discipline and 1+ years of experience with manufacturing, materials, or process engineering. Preferred skills and experience include a Master's degree in metallurgical engineering or materials science & engineering, experience with TIG, MIG, and resistance welding of stainless steel, and familiarity with metallic mill products in alloys and product forms used on launch vehicles and engines.
