Job Summary

The role of a Student Learning and Wellbeing Specialist is to provide expert counselling and psychological assessment services to support the learning and wellbeing outcomes of students in a public school setting.

This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people, working collaboratively with teachers, families and other stakeholders to enhance student learning and wellbeing.

The ideal candidate will have experience in providing evidence-based interventions, conducting psychological assessments and collaborating with key stakeholders to improve student outcomes.

The successful applicant will be based at Chester Hill North Public School and provided with opportunities to work across the lifespan with both primary and high school aged students.

This role is an excellent chance for a registered or provisionally registered psychologist to use their skills to make a real impact on the lives of children and young people, while also developing their professional practice through ongoing supervision and professional learning.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counselling services to students, using evidence-based interventions to support their learning and wellbeing.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to identify the needs of students and inform the development of intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to support student learning and wellbeing.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, families and staff to promote a positive and inclusive school culture.

Requirements:

  • Be a registered or provisionally registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing evidence-based interventions and conducting psychological assessments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between worksites.
  • This position is under the Teachers award (Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2024).
