Job Overview:

The Process Risk and Controls Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing operational risk management across various business entities.

This dynamic individual will lead the identification, mapping, and enhancement of risk and controls within key processes, fostering a culture of process excellence and customer-centricity.

This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you'll collaborate with leaders across multiple functions to ensure that robust controls are embedded in day-to-day operations—supporting both compliance and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the identification and documentation of operational risks and controls within key processes, including system-based controls.
  • Support process owners in identifying control gaps and uplifting controls (including automation opportunities) to reduce risk and increase efficiency.
  • Embed and maintain risk and control documentation within process maps in relevant systems.
  • Ensure process controls remain current, effective, and well-integrated into BAU operations.
  • Upskill and coach process owners to own and manage risks and controls within their remit.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and become a valued advisor on operational risk.
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset and team culture that values safe, customer-centric process excellence.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in process improvement, operational risk, or compliance, ideally within a regulated environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success leading risk/control initiatives and embedding control frameworks into operational processes.
  • Deep understanding of risk principles and process mapping tools, and experience working with GRC platforms.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and educate across diverse business functions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
