Genomic Research Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced research environment as a Genomic Research Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and prepare human specimens under supervision, adhering to established protocols.
  • Perform DNA/RNA and high-molecular weight DNA extractions, including quality control measures.
  • Maintain accurate records, manage sample inventories, and support biobanking activities.
  • Liaise with genomic facilities and collaborate with lab members to coordinate research projects.
  • Assist in data entry, word processing, and laboratory spreadsheet management.
  • Support the lab manager with supply ordering and communication tasks.
  • Engage in problem-solving and adapt to new techniques and protocols as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Experience working with human specimens and performing molecular techniques such as RT-qPCR and DNA/RNA extractions.
  • Strong laboratory documentation skills and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and basic computational tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including responsiveness to professional correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain working relationships with internal team members and external collaborators.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and apply new laboratory techniques.
