HSE Lead/Advisor Job Description

This role offers a unique opportunity to work as an HSE Lead/Advisor in a client-side position with a Tier 1 Mining Asset Owner. Located in Gladstone, QLD, this 12-month rolling contract comes with a 9-day fortnight for greater work-life balance and the potential for extension.

As an HSE Lead/Advisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the Health and Environment functions for the Capital Delivery Team. Your primary goal will be to provide support through coordination and administration of health, safety, and environment processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance and information on HSE matters, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Manage compliance with HSE policies and quality management systems, reporting on non-compliance and environmental data.
  • Coordinate hazard management, health and wellbeing initiatives, safety committee meetings, incident investigations, and analysis.
  • Assist in managing contractors on site with a focus on HSE compliance and practice.
  • Deliver HSE training, including critical risk management and competency verification, while coaching personnel to enhance their skills.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to identify and implement process improvements, develop and implement hazard assessments and operational procedures, and assist in managing contractors on site with a focus on HSE compliance and practice.

About You:
  • You hold a minimum Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or higher.
  • You possess strong knowledge of regulatory HSEQ requirements.
  • You are proficient in incident investigations, risk assessments, hazard and injury management, and delivering HSE training.
  • Civil construction safety experience in the mining construction industry is highly regarded.
  • You demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
