We've grown to 7,000 employees and 150 global operations – predominately in Australia and New Zealand.

We believe materials are not recycled until they've been made into new products. We collect and sort recyclable materials like paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and metals from households and businesses, and locally remanufacture them back into new, sustainable packaging.

Role Details:

As our Senior Sustainability Director QLD, you will be a critical in driving health, safety, and environmental initiatives across multiple Visy sites in QLD, and be based at Gibson Island.

You will collaborate with site leadership teams to ensure safety standards are upheld and continuously improved and coach managers, supervisors, and employees to enhance safety culture and compliance.

Estimated salary: $120,000 - $180,000 AUD per annum depending on experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and promote the desired safety culture, values, and expected behaviors.
  • Drive the implementation of HSE management systems, ensuring ISO standards (45001, 14001) are maintained.
  • Coach and mentor line managers to meet safety goals and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee WHS training and ensure continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Analyse and report HSE data to develop targeted improvement strategies.
  • Manage external audits and maintain accreditations.

What You Will Bring:

  • A degree in WHS/OHS, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an HSE leadership role within manufacturing, recycling, logistics or heavy industrial industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to influence and drive cultural change in safety practices.
  • Experience managing multiple sites and diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
