Key Role in Lung Transplant Care

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Canning Thoracic Institute's Lung Transplant Team as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

The successful candidate will manage pre and post-transplant care for our Oncology DREAM Program patients, working closely with the Lung Transplant and Thoracic Surgery Teams. This role involves clinical duties such as conducting comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status and providing direct clinical care.

The ideal applicant will have experience working with transplant patients, possess clinical expertise, and be able to integrate research-based knowledge into decision making.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough health assessments by taking health histories and performing physical examinations.
  • Prescribe medications, therapies, and procedures according to clinical privileges.
  • Evaluate patient needs and provide comprehensive teaching to patients and families.

The successful candidate will be responsible for their own clinic template during clinic days and will spend administrative time reviewing patient data and communicating with multidisciplinary team members.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited school/college of nursing or master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois or current license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois.
  • Privileged and credentialed through the NMH Medical Staff Office.
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation – BLS, issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Oncology experience is preferred.
