Community Engagement Specialist Role

Shape the future of community engagement by developing and implementing effective strategies to engage with customers and stakeholders.

This role involves providing professional advice and support on a diverse range of projects, ensuring full, open, and inclusive consultation with all affected, interested, and involved parties.

The Community Engagement Specialist will work closely with project teams to develop communication materials, manage external consultants, and ensure that engagement business and administrative requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing engagement plans for capital works projects.
  • Creating communication materials to support project engagement.
  • Managing external consultants and contractors responsible for community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Making decisions regarding the right balance of engagement activities for projects.
  • Ensuring engagement business and administrative requirements are delivered.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you'll possess:

  • Experience in planning, implementing, and managing community and stakeholder engagement projects strategically and practically.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing community/stakeholder engagement for major infrastructure projects.
  • High-level written communication skills, particularly in writing and presenting information to various audiences.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, able to communicate complex information simply and clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to liaise with people at all levels.
