Job Description:

  • We are seeking a Social Media Engagement Specialist to proactively monitor social channels and conversations, moderate channels, and actively engage with our online community.
  • Key responsibilities will include escalating emerging issues of concern, suggesting strategies to resolve these issues, and reporting on social media activity and performance.
  • The successful candidate will stay up to date with the latest social tools, trends, and test new social media platforms.
  • They will work closely with our social media content team, providing support for social media channel planning and ensuring feedback on social media performance.
  • As required, they may also provide surge support to other portfolios to ensure effective media and communications services can be delivered during emergency, crisis, and peak periods.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the implementation of our social media content calendar.
  • Schedule social media content and moderation of channels and emergency response as needed.
  • Proactively monitor social channels and escalate emerging issues of concern and suggest strategies to resolve these issues.
  • Actively engage with our online community.
  • Provide support for implementation of social media channel planning, strategic campaigns, and priority initiatives.
  • Respond to emerging issues and emergencies under the direction of relevant staff and managers.
  • Prepare reports on social media activity and performance for internal stakeholders.
  • Identify risks and issues that may be contentious and provide authoritative advice on how to manage them.
  • Contribute to our Communications and Engagement Branch strategy and services activity, monitor performance, and lead best practice planning and execution that aligns resources to strategic priorities.
  • Foster strong connections with stakeholders (internal and external) and work cross-functionally with other members of the Communications and Engagement Branch to facilitate consistent and high-standard strategic social media content.
  • Provide advice and assistance to departmental staff, senior executives, and minister's offices on social media services.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in social media engagement, including monitoring and moderating channels, creating engaging content, and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and escalate emerging issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media trends, tools, and platforms.
