We are seeking a highly experienced Learning and Development Manager to join our team at Whitehaven Coal. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership of all end-to-end learning within the state of New South Wales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a state-based Learning and Development Strategy, aligned with the company's overall strategy.
  • Partner with State General Managers to drive all training initiatives within the state.
  • Manage regulatory and compliance training requirements for employees in NSW, ensuring alignment with Whitehaven Coal's Health and Safety standards.
  • Provide support and governance to state-based Training teams, promoting consistency and uniformity while responding to site-specific needs.
  • Lead the delivery of key strategic learning and development initiatives within the state.
  • Champion the implementation of Group Learning and Development initiatives within the state.
  • Design and deliver a range of training programs, including technical training, soft skills development, and experiential learning opportunities, to enhance the capabilities of coal mining operations staff.
  • Support the development and implementation of Apprenticeship and Graduate learning programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (10 years) in senior Learning and Development roles, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
  • Proven experience in regulatory training environments, leading Learning and Development strategies that satisfy statutory training requirements.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and training evaluation techniques.
  • Knowledge of coal mining operations, safety regulations, and industry-specific challenges.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and other training technologies.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
