Job Title: Network Connections Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving timely and cost-effective grid connections required by our projects in Australia.

This role involves managing the connection process from development to construction, negotiating with Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs) and Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs), and identifying factors influencing and influenced by the grid connections.

We are seeking an experienced professional to play a strategic role in developing standardised arrangements for grid connections that reduce installation time and cost while maintaining or improving plant performance.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance during project development by identifying factors influencing and influenced by the grid connections.
  • Manage and submit grid applications, including all relevant information required by DNSPs and TNSPs, in a timely manner.
  • Negotiate with DNSPs and TNSPs throughout the review process to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Review grid connection offers to ensure they meet our requirements and represent the minimum scheme required.
  • Create and maintain framework agreements with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and equipment suppliers to ensure we have the required delivery capacity at appropriate commercial terms.
  • Mentor engineers/senior engineers to develop and grow their skills in grid connection space.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian Grid in all states at both DNSP and TNSP levels.
  • Full conversance with the end-to-end DNSP and TNSP process for generator connections.
  • Experience in negotiating legal and commercial aspects of connection contracts.
  • Good network of contacts across TNSP and AEMO environment.
  • Established relationships with DNSPs, TNSPs, and AEMO.
  • Previous experience in design/construction and operation of PV solar plant.
  • Proven track record and experienced in a similar role for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Attained an education, ideally a degree in Electrical and/or Power Engineering but other relative qualifications and supporting working experience would be considered.
