The role of a Security Advisor is pivotal in ensuring the security of Defence assets and personnel. It requires a high level of expertise to mitigate risk within the Defence environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts Security Officer (SO), Government Special Access Program Security Officer (GSSO) and Communications Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO) duties to support Air Warfare Centre outcomes
  • Provides advice on complex protective security matters to identify solutions for continuous improvement to security posture
  • Evaluates and assesses activities to achieve protective security objectives, built productive relationships with stakeholders to ensure these objectives are met
  • Manages security surveys and inspections to ensure secure facility accreditation requirements are achieved, evaluates and assesses activities to identify solutions for continuous improvement to security posture
  • Researches and analyses protective security issues to produce high-quality reports and submissions

The role demands attention to detail to provide governance assurance for secure facilities. The position provides guidance and oversight to subordinate programs within the Air Warfare Centre.

This position is part of a team responsible for delivering a holistic security effect across all Air Warfare Centre activities, including:

  • Security planning for trials and exercises
  • Security Risk Assessment and Management
  • Security support, guidance and advice for executives and personnel
  • Security governance and compliance to ensure continued accreditation of secure facilities

The successful applicant will have high-level written communication skills and be able to draft security standing instructions and internal security guidance documents.
