Job Title

A Tooling Engineer plays a vital role in maintaining production efficiency by ensuring the smooth operation of equipment and moulds.

About the Opportunity

We seek an experienced Tooling Engineer to join our team. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing innovative solutions that drive productivity and quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and engineer moulds for injection moulding, blow moulding, or compression moulding processes.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mould components.
  • Analyse and select appropriate materials for mould construction based on production needs, cost efficiency, and durability.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize moulding processes for efficiency and quality.
  • Diagnostics and resolve tooling issues that arise during production.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of tooling designs, specifications, and procedures in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead tooling projects from conception through to implementation, managing timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
About You
  • Our ideal candidate will be a Mechanical Engineer or equivalent tradesperson with 5+ years of experience in mould design and tooling engineering, preferably within the plastics or metal industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other design tools for mould creation supported by a tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Key Skills and Experience:
  • Advanced understanding of moulding processes, including injection, blow, and compression moulding.
  • Experience with advanced moulding techniques and technologies including multi-cavity moulds and hot runner systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience in leading and delivering medium to large projects.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholder groups and strong commercial acumen.
