Bereavement Support Specialist
The role of Bereavement Support Specialist involves providing emotional support to families who have experienced a loss. This is a part-time permanent position that forms part of an inter-disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and provide bereavement support, counselling, support groups, consultation, and education to ensure clients are able to function within their relevant environment.
- Exercise independent judgement on routine matters and require direct professional supervision from more senior staff members when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Eligibility for AASW membership with significant postgraduate experience in social work practice with families and children and/or in health context, or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and Endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia in the area of Clinical Psychologist.
- Extensive specialist knowledge of the issues facing families in the clinical area coupled with advanced skills in therapeutic counselling and casework in working families in a bereaved situation.
- Advance practice skills in a variety of psychosocial interventions/modalities which include psychosocial assessment, counselling, group work, and community engagement.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in evidence-based practice, education provision, service planning, the development of models of care, and leading and evaluating quality improvement activities.
