Family Support Professional

We are seeking a Family Support Professional to join our team and work with young families who are experiencing complex issues. Our program, Starting Out, supports young people under 25 years who are pregnant or parenting and facing challenges that impact on parenting, family life, and children's wellbeing.

The successful candidate will use a person-centred approach to engage with reluctant young families, build rapport to conduct strengths and risk assessments in the client's home or community, and support families to establish and reach identified parenting goals. They will also develop parenting skills, confidence, and knowledge to promote children's safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in a field related to social work or psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing risk to babies, children, and young people.
  • A sound understanding of the Best Interests Case Practice Model and Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of age, stage, and development (birth - 5 years).
  • Proven ability to plan and implement innovative strategies to successfully engage reluctant young families.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
