Job Title: Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Family Support Specialist to join our family services program, Starting Out. The program aims to support young people under 25 years who are pregnant or parenting and experiencing complex issues that impact on parenting, family life, and children's wellbeing.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to engage with reluctant young families using a creative approach. This may involve building rapport to carry out a strengths and risk assessment in the client's home or community.

In this role, you will be required to support families to establish and reach identified parenting goals. You will also be responsible for building parenting skills, confidence, and knowledge to promote their children's safety and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organisation skills. They will also have a sound understanding of the Best Interests Case Practice Model and Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to social work or psychology;
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing risk to babies, children, and young people;
  • Sound understanding of the Best Interests Case Practice Model and Children, Youth and Families Act 2005;
