Operational Forecasting Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced professional to join our Operational Support division in the role of Operational Forecaster. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality data and systems support to our control rooms.The successful candidate will have expertise in managing operational forecasting models for electricity demand, rooftop PV, grid-scale solar farms, and wind farms. You will work closely with our weather providers and control rooms to translate weather risks into system impacts and ensure operators have the information they need.Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain operational forecasting models by updating inputs, parameters, and variables to reflect system changes and improve performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align tools, data, and forecasting processes between the National Electricity Market (NEM) and Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM).
  • Provide energy and weather information and insights into operational advisories, power system incident reviews, and market reports to support secure and reliable power system operations.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or a related statistical discipline.
  • Experience in the energy sector or similar industry, preferably in an operations, forecasting, or analytical role.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience preparing high-quality reports and presentations to communicate technical information to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
