Job DescriptionThe Operational Support division plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of real-time electricity systems across Australia. The team responsible for short-term forecasting, known as Operational Forecasting, provides critical inputs into operational and market systems within the National Electricity Market (NEM) and Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM).
These forecasts are essential for facilitating network outage planning, reliability assessments, and real-time operational decision-making over the short-term horizon.
Key Responsibilities- Operational forecasting model management for electricity demand, rooftop PV, grid-scale solar farms, and wind farms.
- Collaboration with weather providers and control rooms to translate weather risks into system impacts.
- Coordination across teams and markets to align tools, data, and forecasting processes between the NEM and WEM.
- Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or a related statistical field.
- Experience in the energy sector or similar industry, preferably in an operations, forecasting, or analytical role.
