Purpose of the Role

The site engineer plays a key part in inspecting new technologies, directing crews on site, conducting research, and reporting on project status.

Key responsibilities include ensuring everything runs smoothly, engineering designs are followed, infrastructure is inspected and researched on site to solve problems.

Key Qualifications and Skills
  • A relevant tertiary qualification – Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • A current White card
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in the construction industry in a similar role
  • Experience working on large-scale construction projects or other suitable projects
  • Technical skills, including machinery and equipment knowledge
  • Civil and structural technical engineering expertise
  • Ability to interpret technical schedules and documentation
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across different levels
  • Solid interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Capacity to work to deadlines and targets, prioritise tasks under pressure
  • Strong initiative and proactive nature

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word

  • Conduct site research
  • Inspect equipment and technologies
  • Communicate with clients to determine needs and explain complex issues
  • Conduct site research and studies
  • Manage field activities and implement engineering designs
  • Detect and diagnose construction or machinery problems
  • Resolve malfunctions and crises as needed
  • Oversee repairs and technical improvements
  • Install new systems and technology
  • Inspect and test material and machinery for safety
  • Maintain proper onsite equipment maintenance
  • Supervise and direct onsite crew (e.g., technicians)
  • Draft and submit reports
