Job Summary:

Your Role:

As a Senior Creature Technical Director at Industrial Light & Magic, you will be responsible for creating exceptional character and creature simulations using cutting-edge software technologies. With a deep understanding of all aspects of Creature TD work in a production pipeline, you will be able to expertly wrangle rigging and creature pipeline issues under the direction and support of your supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement advanced hero-creature rigging and enveloping in Maya
  • Set up and run complex cloth, hair, rigid body, and muscle simulations
  • Collaborate with Creature Supervisors to comprehend and execute direction
  • Mentor junior Creature TDs and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Participate in achieving senior-level aesthetic solutions by attending regular dailies and interpreting feedback from supervisors and leads
  • Meet deadlines and produce high-quality work while maintaining a consistent level of productivity

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience and a degree in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High proficiency in body and facial rigging, including experience with in-house proprietary modular rigging systems and off-the-shelf Maya rigging tools
  • Deep understanding of anatomy and muscle dynamics, with a keen eye for aesthetics in body and face deformations
  • High proficiency in cloth, hair, flesh, and rigid body simulations, including setting up, running, and troubleshooting proprietary simulations
  • Ability to troubleshoot pipeline issues related to the creature department and other disciplines
  • Experience with look of simulated motions
  • Excellent time management and people management skills
