Senior Creature Technical Director Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Creature Technical Director to join our team at Industrial Light & Magic.

Job Description:

As a Senior Creature Technical Director, you will be responsible for creating high-quality character and creature simulations using various software technologies. This includes wrangling rigging and creature pipeline issues under supervisor direction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advanced Hero-Creature Rigging and Enveloping in Maya: Utilize expertise in body/facial rigging and anatomy to create realistic character simulations.
  • Cloth, Hair, Rigid Body, and Muscle Simulations: Set up and run complex simulations to achieve desired aesthetic results.
  • Direction from Creature Supervisor: Comprehend and execute creative vision while maintaining productivity.
  • Mentorship and Training: Guide entry-level Creature TDs in their professional development.
  • Aesthetic Solutions: Participate in senior-level discussions to ensure visually stunning results.
  • Productivity and Deadlines: Maintain a high level of productivity while meeting deadlines.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • 5+ Years of Professional Experience: A combination of education and experience in computer graphics, fine arts, or a related field is required.
  • Rigging and Anatomy Expertise: High proficiency in body/facial rigging and anatomy is essential.
  • Muscle Dynamics and Aesthetics: Deep understanding of muscle dynamics and aesthetics is necessary.
  • Cloth, Hair, and Rigid Body Simulations: Experience with these simulations is crucial.
  • Time Management and People Skills: Excellent time management and people management skills are required.
Benefits and Salary:

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience, as well as excellent benefits and opportunities for growth and development.
