Technical Director for High-End Creature Simulations

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Director to join our team at Industrial Light & Magic. As a key member of our production pipeline, you will be responsible for creating outstanding character and creature simulations using various software technologies.

Your expertise in all aspects of Creature TD work will enable you to wrangle rigging and creature pipeline issues proficiently under the direction and support of your supervisors.

  • Advanced hero-creature rigging and enveloping in Maya
  • Set up and run cloth, hair, rigid body, muscle simulations
  • Comprehend and execute direction from Creature Supervisor
  • Mentor entry-level Creature TDs and provide day-to-day assistance and guidance
  • Participate in achieving senior-level aesthetic solutions
  • Maintain productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience and a BA in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, or related field
  • High proficiency in body/facial rigging, anatomy, and muscle dynamics
  • Deep understanding of cloth/hair/flesh/rigid body simulations and proprietary systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot pipeline issues and experience with look of simulated motions
  • Excellent time management and people management skills

About the Role:

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
