Job Overview

The Government agency works with people with disability, providers and the community to deliver nationally consistent, responsive and effective regulation of service providers.

This role is part of a dedicated team that monitors the response of registered providers to adequately manage any immediate risk to a person's safety and wellbeing, undertake assessment and investigation of the incident and follow up appropriately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and resolve a caseload of incidents related to the provision of supports and services by providers, including assessing moderately complex complaints and contributing to complaints handling activities.
  • Support the education and training function for providers in identifying incidents, preventing and effectively responding to abuse, and neglect of people with disability and information about the reportable incidents handling function.
  • Develop productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders to facilitate the work of the reportable incidents handling function.
  • Guide and mentor staff around the implementation, assessment and monitoring of reportable incidents and other regulatory intelligence, consistent with the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and Rules.
  • Manage a caseload of reportable incidents in connection with the provision of supports and services by Registered NDIS providers, including the assessment of complex incidents and escalating incidents for investigation or other action where necessary.
  • Provide advice on trends and issues through the oversight and review of reportable incidents received.
  • Guiding and mentoring officers to ensure assessments of reportable incidents and other regulatory intelligence are completed to a quality standard within agreed timeframes.
  • Providing education and training to providers in relation to identifying incidents, preventing and effectively responding to abuse and neglect of people with disability.
  • Develop strategic relationships with external stakeholders to facilitate the work of the function, and more broadly.
  • Prepare complex correspondence and corporate documentation, including reports and briefings.
  • Lead a learning culture where expertise can be developed and shared.
