Senior Genetic Counselor

**Role Summary**
The Parkville Familial Cancer Centre and Genomic Medicine Department delivers comprehensive genetic services, providing diagnosis, counselling and support to adults with various genetic disorders.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Genetic Counsellor or Associate Genetic Counsellor to join the combined centre's multidisciplinary team.
As a key member of the team, you will provide genetic counselling to families in Familial cancer clinics and adult genetics clinics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interpreting and explaining genetic analysis results
- Providing appropriate follow-up and support to patients and their families
- Managing new referrals, clinical follow-ups and file reviews within set performance indicators
- Gathering family history information and setting cancer verification plans
- Documenting patient contact and details in medical records
Requirements include:
- Board Eligibility in Genetic Counselling (MHGSA status)
- Understanding of current genetic and psychosocial issues relating to adult genetics and familial cancer
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
