Lead Counselor - Drug Treatment Program

The Drug Treatment Court seeks an experienced counselor to lead the management of complex casework and provide high-quality legal advice.

  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop effective treatment plans for clients on drug treatment orders.
  • Provide in-court advocacy, duty lawyer services, and expert advice sessions.
  • Mentor and supervise less experienced counselors.
  • Participate in professional education and training when required.

This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned counselor to develop leadership skills while contributing to the strategic direction of the program focused on improving services for priority clients.

About You

  • Significant knowledge and practical experience in law and court procedures, with expertise in therapeutic justice related matters.
  • Effective case management, dispute resolution, and advocacy skills.
  • Previous experience supervising junior counselors, with a genuine interest in mentoring and taking on a leading role.
  • High-level interpersonal skills, including forming productive professional relationships and communicating effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • A current practicing certificate which entitles you to practice in Victoria as a government counselor (mandatory).
