Job Title: In-House Counselor

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced In-House Counselor to provide legal counsel and representation to our institution on a wide range of legal matters.
  • The successful candidate will advise our leadership, administrators, faculty, and staff on issues including but not limited to contracts, employment law, student affairs, compliance, intellectual property, governance, and regulatory matters.
  • The ideal candidate will ensure that our operations comply with applicable laws and policies and support risk management efforts.
  • We require the counselor to coordinate with outside counsel, conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and provide training on legal topics relevant to the academic environment.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school required
  • Must be a member in good standing of the Florida State Bar
  • Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction required
  • Addiional certifications (e.g., in higher education law, Title IX compliance, or labor and employment law) supplemental
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience required in area of expertise
  • Prior experience in a university, government or non-profit setting preferred
  • Experienced handling complex legal matters independently and managing multiple stakeholders
  • Prior experience in drafting, reviewing, and/or negotiating agreements and legal documents preferred
