Transformative Governance Specialist Opportunity

CRM Recruitment is partnering with a busy Council undergoing transformation and uplift, seeking a Governance Specialist to join their remote team in Central Highlands, QLD.

This hands-on role within a small risk, compliance, and governance team focuses on main service activities, interacting with internal stakeholders and executives. As a Governance Specialist, you will provide administrative support to strengthen the governance and compliance framework, ensuring legislative compliance is fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and support to elected members and staff on statutory compliance, ethical conduct, and good governance
  • Engage with internal stakeholders at various levels, including operations and General Manager levels
  • Support Councilors, Executives, and staff in delivering processes to achieve outcomes within compliance of the Council's governance frameworks
  • Illustrate understanding of legislation, policy, and regulations, offering suitable advice
  • Manage and facilitate high-level council meetings, run agendas, and review instruments regarding legislations
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in applicable laws and regulations

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in the government sector
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with a great understanding of the local government environment
  • Strong communication skills, to work with council and stakeholders
  • Good eye for detail, with highly developed reading and writing skills
  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Law, or a related field. Equivalent experience accepted
