Job Title: Child Development Specialist
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Child Development Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with school personnel, parents, caregivers, and other agencies to deliver direct psychological services to identified clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments, provide counseling, liaise with individual staff members and external agencies, and participate in case conferencing.
- Deliver direct psychological services to identified clients, applying psychological skills and knowledge to improve mental health, learning, and behavioral outcomes for students.
- Work closely with school personnel, parents, caregivers, and other agencies to support students, parents, teachers, and school administrators in various areas, including mental health issues, complex behavior, learning difficulties, and disability.
- Apply analytical and conceptual skills to identify issues, conduct risk assessments, analyze, intervene, and evaluate.
- Demonstrate high-level written and oral communication skills, showcasing the capacity to produce correspondence, reports, and case notes, as well as interview and training (facilitation) skills.
- Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills, demonstrating an ability to function independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, department personnel, and inter-agency partners across various contexts.
Requirements:
- Hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting.
