About the Role

The Townsville Catholic Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated School Chaplain to join our team. As a School Chaplain, you will play a vital role in creating opportunities for faith development and advancing the religious life of our school community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pastoral and Spiritual Support
    • Provide guidance and support to students in a professional, warm, and friendly manner.
    • Mentor and provide practical support to students, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being.
  • Faith Development and Community Engagement
    • Coordinate and facilitate reflection and prayer experiences, promoting spiritual growth and development.
    • Contribute to the organisation of major school liturgies and celebrations, enhancing the Catholic ethos of our college community.
  • Community Building and Social Justice
    • Foster the experience of Catholic community within the school, promoting a sense of belonging and social responsibility.
    • Engage the school community in social justice and social action, making information available to students around issues of social justice and support.
  • Professional Development and Administration
    • Undertake ongoing professional learning, participating in TCE facilitated programs and contributing to local cluster gatherings of Chaplains.
    • Maintain relevant records and data, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Requirements
  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card.
  • Certificate IV in Youth Work, Chaplaincy, or Pastoral Care, or equivalent or higher qualification.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
Desirable Criteria
  • Interest in ongoing professional development.
  • Experience in the education or Catholic sectors.
