St George Christian School is in search of a skilled and passionate Director of Pastoral Care.

In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in cultivating a supportive and caring atmosphere for our students. Your responsibilities will include leading the formulation and implementation of a protective behaviours curriculum, managing significant behavioural inquiries, and collaborating closely with staff, students, and parents to uphold the highest standards of student wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and continuous enhancement of a protective behaviours curriculum.
  • Oversee critical behavioural inquiries and manage the Exclusions Process.
  • Enhance behaviour management protocols and ensure effective communication with parents and staff.
  • Provide guidance to the Student Services Team, including Nurses and Chaplains.
  • Supervise student wellbeing areas, including suspension and timeout facilities.
  • Address and follow up with students exhibiting low attendance.
  • Organize parent and community engagement initiatives centered on pastoral care.
  • Initiate and lead professional development for staff on effective classroom management and wellbeing practices.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in education, pastoral care, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in leading pastoral care or student wellbeing initiatives within a Secondary School environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage significant behavioural challenges and inquiries.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary pastoral care and wellbeing strategies.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in organizing parent and community engagement initiatives.
  • Understanding of the unique needs of students across various year levels, particularly in behaviour management.
  • Previous experience in a school environment that aligns with the ethos and values of our institution.

Essential Criteria:

  • A personal faith and commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • Active participation in a Church or Christian community, exemplifying Christian beliefs and practices.
  • Acceptance of the College's Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to foster cooperative and supportive relationships with the board, principal, staff, students, and parents.
  • Commitment to personal best practices.
  • Ensure decision-making is based on facts and is impartial and fair.
  • Model appropriate communication channels.
  • Act in the best interest of the College and its ethos.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures established by the institution.
  • Possess a First Aid certificate.
  • Hold a Working with Children Card.
