Disaster Recovery Specialist

This role is a key part of our team dedicated to enhancing the customer experience for applicants navigating complex rebuilds of their home.

We are looking for an experienced professional to strategically coordinate and support uninsured homeowners who have had their primary place of residence impacted or destroyed by disaster events.

The ideal candidate will contribute to improving the customer experience by supporting the implementation of customer service best practices, helping ensure clear, compassionate, and efficient assistance.

  • Develop case management approaches for complex applications, including supporting pathways for psycho-social support, securing funding commitments from third parties, and ensuring development applications are completed in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and local government policies.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role and an in-depth understanding of Queensland's Disaster Management Arrangements and recovery principles.
  • Demonstrable experience in project and/or case management within a statutory framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster effective communication between applicants, local councils, builders, trades, suppliers, government agencies, and community organisations.
  • Represent the department at interagency meetings and forums. Strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service coordination and applicant support.
  • Help track and review recipient experiences to identify patterns and support ongoing improvements in service delivery and community outcomes.
  • Prepare and present accurate reports, event specific work plans, business cases, briefings, and submissions to support informed decision-making and program enhancements.
  • Maintain documentation to support the re-build processes in accordance with Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements guidelines, Community Recovery and local government policies and procedures.
