Advanced Trainee Role

The position of Advanced Trainee is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic multi-disciplinary team within the Emergency Department at Auburn Hospital.

As part of this role, you will work effectively with medical, nursing and allied health professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

You will be directly responsible to the supervising Emergency Medicine Specialist of the day and have overall supervision by the Term Supervisor and the Director of the Emergency Department.

This role requires the ability to work independently in a supervised environment with a commitment to self-education and continuous professional development.

Work Environment

The Auburn Emergency Department sees approximately 33,000 adult and paediatric presentations per year with a varied and interesting case mix.

The department has an adult and Paediatric short stay unit and is accredited for provisional & advance training with 16 hours/7 days emergency physician cover.

Auburn ED is closely linked to Westmead Emergency and has multiple streams dedicated to different requirements including a weekly registrar teaching.

The hospital has all diagnostic services on site including Plain radiology, CT and Ultrasound.

Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate category
  • Minimum 12 months full-time Emergency Medicine experience in an Australian Public Hospital or equivalent
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian College of Emergency Medicine
